As the sun rose over Leamington Spa we welcomed book lovers, authors and poets to our much-anticipated third literary festival. A year in the planning, it was a day that we hoped would bring local authors together to celebrate the written word, all set against the backdrop of the glamourous Victoria House, Leamington.
Writers of all ages and backgrounds joined us sharing their passion for storytelling and forging new friendships.
Thanks to Sian Smith and husband Andy of Cloverleaf Marketing who supplied the Coffee Box at the front of Victoria House. We certainly appreciated them being there!
The festival kicked off with the Warwickshire Young Poet Laureate and runners-up plus a series of engaging workshops led by accomplished authors, offering valuable insights into the craft of writing. However, there was a frantic few hours the day before when we discovered that the ceiling had fallen in in the larger of our two rooms and we had to relocate. We were given the very grand Temple room, courtesy of the Leamington Freemasons (whose home Victoria House is), so a big thank you to them.
There are also many thanks to be given, to those behind the scenes, our volunteers on the day and also the big names in the literary world who supported us so generously, namely Kit de Waal, Sophie Hannah, Billy Ivory and Alison May. And of course our local authors.
Here's to 2025!
